6 degrees from Runaway

In the early 70s I played in a folk rock duo with keyboardist Bart Nameth. Bart's older brother Darrell played in a local band called the Brass Union from the late 60s until they broke up in 1971. Many of the band members went to my high school, and I saw the Brass Union perform at school dances and local concerts many times.
Their song It Won't Be Long charted on Hamilton's top 40 station CKOC in 1970, and that summer the band played for more than 20,000 people when they opened for teen idol and TV actor Bobby Sherman at the Grandstand at the CNE.
Bobby Sherman performed and recorded a cover version of Del Shannon's 1961 #1 hit Runaway (written by Del Shannon and Max Crook). Here’s a link to a live video recording of Del Shannon singing his hit Runaway in 1988. Still sounded great.
