“Time Flies” is a meditative, philosophical and poignant yet still very accessible tune about how moments become decades, of how time slides on by while we, preoccupied with the fun and challenges of the present, aren’t paying attention to the larger rhythms of life. It’s a theme that recurs throughout the disc, on both the aforementioned title track [Rescued You] and the kickoff tune [This is Just Alright] as well as in another longtime Cummings hit, “Honey Harbour”, which rebooted here gets a more soulful treatment while still retaining the musical pace and appeal of the original.

... Around 30 people might come out on any given Friday night, most of them sitting across the road from Cummings’ porch, eating, drinking, and socializing. “People would say, ‘I look forward to this every week. It’s one of the highlights of my week," Cummings says. “It was really fun because I would start to play at 6:30, and could just see people popping out of their front doors and some of them would wander up ... a little closer so they could see who was playing,” he says. “But it was quite funny. Suddenly people were outside.”
The magic of the porch performances was in how they brought the community together, says Cummings. “The music is a nice thing, but it drew people out,” he says. “You’d have a little bit of social time with people you’re not really seeing the rest of the week because everybody’s hiding out inside.”
